10 online Work From Home Jobs
1. Proofreading
I wanted to make sure to include proofreading at the top of this list because I believe that it will only continue to grow into a more lucrative career. Proofreading allows you to create a long-term income that is an awesome job to do from home.
The basics of proofreading is that you spend your time looking for typos and other errors in books, legal documents, blog posts, resumes, and more. You can do it from anywhere that has an internet connection and make a great income in just a few short months.
The best part? Well, there’s a completely FREE workshop you can attend to learn the first few steps towards becoming a proofreader.
2. Transcription
Transcribing is another awesome option because it isn’t going anywhere. There’s thousands of hours of video created each and every day and those videos need subtitles. Audio files need to be transferred into text. There are so many uses for transcription!
As a transcriptionist you’ll be given a video or an audio file and you’ll watch/listen and write out every single world that is said. Simple as that. Simple as PIE!
As with most online jobs, you can’t just jump in, you need to learn a few things. Luckily, there’s a website called Transcribe Everywhere that has a FREE 7 Part Course that will teach you tons about transcription.
3. Blogging
Since you’re reading this, you have officially experienced a blog. This website was created as a way to make money from home and has earned me thousands of dollars each month and taught me valuable skills I bring into every part of my life.
As a blogger you get to do things like writing content, creating images, making videos, editing, and so much more.
Since I love blogging so much, I am the co-founder of a website that is devoted to teaching people how to start profitable blogs of their own. If you’re interested in starting a blog, you should check out Beginner Blogging Blueprint.
4. Youtube
Over the past ten years Youtube has gone from a place to watch cat videos to a lucrative online business platform where you can earn six figures a year with ease. Well…. It takes a bit of time to get there, but once you’re there you’re golden.
Starting a youtube channel is easy, and can be done relatively quickly. Now, a big thing I hear when telling people to start a channel of their own is that they don’t have expensive camera equipment, don’t let that stop you! Chances are you have a really great camera on your phone and that camera can get the job done at least for the first few months until you’re making a decent income.
You can learn more about creating a Youtube channel and how all that works in this article!
5. Affiliate Marketing
One of the biggest ways I make money online is through Affiliate Marketing. In really basic terms, affiliate marketing is when you promote a product for another company and when a sale is made you earn a commission. The commissions can be anywhere from 1%-90% of the sale price depending on the product and the company.
For example, if I was writing a blog post about saving money when shopping online, I’d talk about Ebates and how they give you money back after you buy. I’d say You can check out ebates free today! and that sentence, is an affiliate link.
You can make money online with affiliate marketing on a blog, on instagram, on Facebook, on Pinterest, essentially on any website where someone may click on your link and make a sale.
If you’d like to learn more about making affiliate marketing work for you, I suggest you check out Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.
6. virtual assisting
If I were to start a new online business that wasn’t blogging, I’d LOVE to become a virtual assistant. Heck, if I had an extra $1000 a month, I’d love to hire a virtual assistant.
As a virtual assistant you’d be helping a person (usually an entrepreneur) in their day to day tasks. This could be working on their Pinterest account, answering their emails, responding to questions in their Facebook groups, or much more.
A successful virtual assistant will have some strong social media skills and be able to talk to people in a calm and clear way. You can make around $20 an hour with a good virtual assistant gig!
7. Freelance writing
One of the most common work from home jobs is freelance writing. This can take tons of different forms, you can write for online magazines, for blogs, or even become a ghost writer for bigger names out there.
There are a TON of amazing ways to learn about freelance writing, but I suggest you check out 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success!
8. Teaching English
A really awesome option to work from home that is super flexible is teaching English online. You can do the entire thing from your webcam and the company you work for will give you a lesson plan so there’s no guess work.
You can choose the hours when you’ll teach (however, the hours are usually based on when students would be awake in China) and you can make around $15-20 an hour doing it!
9. sell on etsy
Selling products on Etsy is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Seriously. You can create an entire virtual store to sell your physical products, or sell digital products. Some things people sell on Etsy are crafts, personalized home decor, greeting cards, and even resume templates or budgeting binders. If you have a unique skill that you could sell, I highly recommend opening an Etsy store!
10. online courses
My final recommendation for an awesome work from home opportunity is to start creating a course on Teachable. Wait, what? I know. Most people who read this will think something along the lines of “what could I possibly create a course about?”
The thing is, if you have any kind of unique skill or knowledge you can and SHOULD start teaching that information to other people. Everyone out there could stand to learn something new and people are searching for this information every single day.
You could create an amazing course about photography, meal planning, crafting, video editing, etc. There are endless possibilities.
Check out the teachable platform & see what it could do for you!
Final Thoughts
Working from home is the best thing that ever happened to me and I really hope that one of the above work from home opportunities can really inspire you to create your own work at home business! Thanks for reading.
