It seems like everybody out there is looking for an awesome side hustle to make them some extra money. It’s definitely true that we could all use a few extra bucks here and there (me too!) and a side hustle is the perfect option to make that cash!
There are so many things eating up our time and our money, so it’s nice to have something you can do at night, on the weekends, and whenever you’re available to grind. There are a ton of great side hustle options that can be done online, but I decided to focus this list on non-computer side hustles for those of us out there who are a little technologically challenged.

4 Non-Computer Side Hustles That Can Make You $1,000 A Month
#1 – Walk Dogs / Dog Sit
Dog walking is hands down one of the easiest things to market to your neighbours because all you need is fliers or a post on craigslist/kijiji. You can easily make a super cute flyer using Canva and print out a couple copies and give them to your neighbours!
Dog walking can be a very flexible work environment too. If you’re already working a full-time 9-5 type job, you can do it before or after work or on weekends! You can charge $10 for half an hour of dog walking which is definitely good money, plus the extra exercise that you’ll get doesn’t hurt either. Looking for a more legit way to get dog walking clients? There’s this awesome website called Rover where you can apply for jobs! Check out this post we wrote all about Rover!
#2 – House sit / Babysit
Who decided to call watching children babysitting? I swear when I was a kid I thought you literally had to sit on babies. Anyway, that’s besides the point. To become a house/babysitter all you need to do is befriend some neighbours or post on a job board.
Taking care of people’s homes or children is something where you’re going to need to build trust and at least have some experience when it comes to the children part. People love nights out, or vacations, and if you can make their life easier by offering to take care of something for them, they’ll appreciate you.
#3 – Sell Stuff
It’s really easy to turn selling things into a real awesome way to make money. The first step is to clean our your closets, basements, and attics. I’m sure you have some stuff that’s just collecting dust that you no longer need, why not make some money off of it? In 2017, I made a good $500 selling things I didn’t need through Facebook Marketplace!
The best thing about this, is that people will pay you to clean out their old stuff, and then you can make even more money by selling it to people who will actually love it. This doesn’t have to be sketchy. You could also do it while giving them a commission for whatever money you make from selling their old stuff.
#4 – Refinishing Furniture
In 2017, I made $400 from refinishing furniture and I only sold two pieces. How much money did I put in? $50. I’d say a $350 return on a $50 investment is a darn good side hustle.
How does it work? Well, all you need to do is find a cheap piece of out of date furniture, either at goodwill or on the side of the road, and paint it to give it a face lift and sell it. You can often make 5-10x the amount of money you spent.
Here’s a cool article with a person who painted a piece of furniture and how beautiful it turned out!
